Jody Berinato, RDH, BS, FADHA
Jody Berinato is originally from New Jersey and moved to Maryland in 2000 to attend Towson University, where she ran cross country and track at the Division I level and became the first woman in school history to compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She majored in electronic media and film and later worked at a local television news station, where she met her husband, Chris, now married 17 years.
Jody returned to school and graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2012. She has since worked in general dentistry across several private practices.
Jody’s leadership in dental hygiene runs deep. She led the Maryland Dental Hygienists’ Association Greater Baltimore Component as president (2013-2016), then held MDHA’s vice president and president roles (2017-2018) and treasurer post (2019-2024), earning the MDHA Symbol of Excellence award in 2019. At the national level, she has been an ADHA delegate numerous times, chaired an ADHA reference committee in 2023, and sat on the Committee on Policy, the Awards Committee and District III’s directorship.
A lifelong runner, Jody has completed 10 marathons and is training for her first 50-miler this fall. She runs with the Baltimore Road Runners Club, where she sits on the scholarship committee and currently volunteers as a board delegate, and she went undefeated in the ADHA 5K In Motion race during its run. The youngest of four siblings, she is a proud aunt to four nieces and two nephews. In her free time, she enjoys reading, woodworking, learning bass guitar and traveling with her husband.
