ADHA Statement on Allied Membership Last fall the American Dental Association House of Delegates considered developing an allied membership category for all dental team members, including dental hygienists, on a national level. Though the ADA allied membership initiative was not adopted last year on a national level, we are aware that state dental societies are taking up this initiative by offering a state level allied membership category to dental team members, including dental hygienists. Several states across the country are now experiencing active recruitment campaigns targeted at dental hygienists for allied membership in state dental societies. In order to help states address questions and concerns from their members, ADHA has developed an informational piece for use by constituents and components. Suggested uses for this communication vehicle include publication in newsletters, web site copy, speeches, membership brochures, etc. All ADHA members will receive this information next week through the bi-monthly ADHA Update. We hope that you will find this information helpful as we address this important issue together.
