Recipient of 2007 Discus Dental/ADHA Distinguished Service Award
– Betty Dalton, RDH
Chicago, July 20 2007—The
American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Betty
Dalton, RDH, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., as a recipient of the 2007
Discus Dental/ADHA Distinguished Service Award. She was honored
during the opening ceremonies at ADHA’s 84th annual session
in New Orleans, La., on June 22nd.
The award is presented to ADHA members who
have provided exemplary service to ADHA, its constituents, and its
components. Each winner has a minimum of 10 years of ADHA active
membership and association leadership, has advanced the art and
science of dental hygiene through service to the association, and
was nominated by their constituent.
Dalton has been practicing clinical dental
hygiene for 20 years. She was previously a dental hygiene instructor
at Pensacola Junior College, where she earned her associate degree
in dental hygiene in 1987. In 1992, she earned a Bachelor of Science
in Teacher Education from the University of West Florida in Pensacola.
She is a past president of the Florida Dental
Hygiene Association (FDHA), and has served as State Legislative
Chair since 1998. Ensuring that all Florida citizens eventually
receive dental care is both a passion for Dalton and a goal of FDHA.
On the national level, Dalton serves as a delegate to the American
Dental Hygienist's Association.
ADHA is the largest national organization
