with 2006 ADHA Student Advisor Award
Chicago—August 2, 2006—Evelyn
R. Hobbs, RDH, MEd., of Farmington, N.M., was recently named by
the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) as the
winner of the 2006 ADHA Student Advisor Award.
The award program, sponsored by Waterpik
Technologies, honors student advisors who exhibit excellence in
both the encouragement of student involvement in the Student American
Dental Hygienists’ Association and their involvement with
ADHA.
Hobbs received her graduate dental hygienist
degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and both
her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and her Master of Education
from the University of Washington in Seattle.
Hobbs is a Dental Hygiene Instructor at San
Juan College in Farmington, N.M. where she serves as a student advisor.
She has also been an associate professor of dental hygiene at Northern
Arizona University, where she also served as the interim chair of
the Department of Dental Hygiene.
Hobbs was honored during the opening ceremonies
at ADHA’s 83rd annual session in Orlando, Fla., on June 24.
She received $1,000 and a commemorative award, as well as round-trip
transportation and lodging for two nights at the session.
ADHA is the largest national organization
representing the professional interests of more than 120,000 dental
hygienists across the country. Dental hygienists are preventive
oral health professionals, licensed in dental hygiene, who provide
educational, clinical and therapeutic services that support total
