| ADHA Announces Recipient of
2006 Distinguished Service Award
Chicago—August 1, 2006—The
American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Jackie
S. Perry, RDH, MSDH, of Portsmouth, Va., as a recipient of the 2006
ADHA Distinguished Service Award.
The award recognizes outstanding achievement
and dedication to the profession of dental hygiene.
Perry has received three degrees from Old
Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., her associate degree in dental
hygiene, her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and her Master
of Science in dental hygiene. She is currently employed at the Norfolk
Naval Dental Center/Portsmouth Naval Hospital Dental Clinic.
Perry has been actively involved with ADHA
for a number of years serving as an ADHA delegate for 8 years, serving
as both a constituent and component president for the Virginia Dental
Hygienists’ Association and the Tidewater Dental Hygienists’
Association. She has also been appointed to ADHA’s Ethics
Committee.
Perry was honored during the opening ceremonies
at ADHA’s 83rd annual session in Orlando, Fla., on June 24.
ADHA is the largest national organization
representing the professional interests of more than 120,000 dental
hygienists across the country. Dental hygienists are preventive
oral health professionals, licensed in dental hygiene, who provide
educational, clinical and therapeutic services that support total
