Chicago—July 31, 2006—The
American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) and Colgate
Oral Pharmaceuticals Inc, a subsidiary of the Colgate Palmolive
Company, have named the Greater Fort Worth Component of the Texas
Dental Hygienists’ Association a recipient of the 2006 Colgate/ADHA
Community Outreach Award.
The award is presented to ADHA component
organizations that have implemented significant community outreach
programs focusing on preventive oral health care.
Accepting the award on behalf of the Greater
Fort Worth component was Nancy G. Garnett, RDH, BS. Currently employed
as a clinical dental hygienist in a private practice, Garnett received
her associate in dental hygiene degree from the University of Texas
Dental Branch in Houston, and her Bachelor of Science from Texas

The award was presented to the Greater Fort
Worth component for the “Hispanic Wellness Fair” program,
a community oral healthcare access day at Will Rogers Memorial Center
which served 16,000 patients not limited to the Hispanic community.
The program provided preventive dental services to underserved children
and oral health education for the entire family.
The recipients were honored at ADHA’s
83rd annual session in Orlando, Fla., on June 24. The winners each
received a $2,000 donation for their component, a commemorative
award, and an expense-free trip to Orlando for the ceremony.
