| 2005 Pfizer/ADHA Award Presented
to Gail B. Stoops
Chicago—June 27, 2005—The
American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Gail
B. Stoops, RDH, of Cornville, Ariz., as a recipient of the 2005
Pfizer/ADHA Excellence in Dental Hygiene Award.
The award, sponsored by Pfizer Inc, honors
dental hygienists who exhibit excellence in dental hygiene through
outstanding accomplishments that impact the practice and future
of the dental hygiene profession. Winners must be active members
of ADHA for a minimum of 10 years.
Stoops has served in many capacities at the
national, state and local levels of ADHA. She is a past president
of ADHA, been a district XII trustee, and been president of both
her constituent and component organizations. An entrepreneur, she
is the president and owner of G B Stoops Eterprises, Inc. Through
this corporation she has been able to finance research for the development
of products and machinery unique to the dental hygiene trade. She
is also an adjunct member of the faculty within the Northern Arizona
University, Dental Hygiene Program which allows her to mentor students
in her course on career options. Stoops has served on a number of
volunteer committees including many for the National Institute of
Health.
The recipients were honored during a special
luncheon at ADHA’s 82nd annual session in Las Vegas on June
26. They each received $2,500 and a commemorative award, as well
as round trip transportation and lodging for the session.
ADHA is the largest national organization
representing the professional interests of more than 120,000 dental
hygienists across the country. Dental hygienists are preventive
oral health professionals, licensed in dental hygiene, who provide
educational, clinical and therapeutic services that support total
