| 2005 Pfizer/ADHA Award Presented
to Christine Hovliaras-Delozier
Chicago—June 27, 2005—The
American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Christine
Hovliaras-Delozier, RDH, MBA, of Flanders, N.J., as a recipient
of the 2005 Pfizer/ADHA Excellence in Dental Hygiene Award.
The award, sponsored by Pfizer Inc, honors
dental hygienists who exhibit excellence in dental hygiene through
outstanding accomplishments that impact the practice and future
of the dental hygiene profession. Winners must be active members
of ADHA for a minimum of 10 years.
Hovliaras-Delozier, a member of the Access
editorial review board, has a long history of involvement with ADHA.
She has served on the council on public relations both as a member
and as the chair. At the state level she is a past president, fundraising
chairperson, and has served as the secretary. Hovliaras-Delozier
practiced clinically for 16 years before developing her own oral
care consulting firm called Professional Savvy. She is also a featured
columnist in several dental hygiene publications nation-wide. This
honor is especially significant to Hovliaras-Delozier because for
11 years, in her position with the Warner-Lambert Company (now Pfizer
Inc), she co-presented this award.
The recipients were honored during a special
luncheon at ADHA’s 82nd annual session in Las Vegas on June
26. They each received $2,500 and a commemorative award, as well
as round-trip transportation and lodging for the session.
ADHA is the largest national organization
representing the professional interests of more than 120,000 dental
hygienists across the country. Dental hygienists are preventive
oral health professionals, licensed in dental hygiene, who provide
educational, clinical and therapeutic services that support total
health through the promotion of optimal oral health. For more information
