| ADHA Announces Recipient of
2005 Distinguished Service Award
Chicago—June 27, 2005—The
American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Stephanie
Bossenberger-James, RDH, MS, of Salt Lake City, Utah, as a recipient
of the 2005 ADHA Distinguished Service Award.
The award recognizes outstanding achievement
and dedication to the profession of dental hygiene.
Bossenberger-James received two degrees from
Weber State University in Ogden, Utah; an associate of science in
dental hygiene (1978) and a bachelor of science in psychology (1981),
as well as a master of science in health education from the University
of Utah (1987), where she is now a professor and the department
chair of the dental hygiene program.
An ADHA member since her 1978 graduation,
Bossenberger-James has served in many capacities within the association.
She served as the president of the Utah Dental Hygienists’
Association in 1989, a district X trustee from 1996 to 2000 and
is a current member of the finance committee.
Bossenberger-James was honored during the
opening ceremonies at ADHA’s 82nd annual session in Las Vegas
on June 25.
ADHA is the largest national organization
representing the professional interests of more than 120,000 dental
hygienists across the country. Dental hygienists are preventive
oral health professionals, licensed in dental hygiene, who provide
educational, clinical and therapeutic services that support total
