Local Dental Hygienist Lisa Bell
Chicago—June 27, 2005—Lisa
Bell, RDH, of Urbana, Ill., was named by the American Dental Hygienists’
Association (ADHA) as one of two recipients of the 2005 Crest/ADHA
Award for Clinical Dental Hygienists.
The award program, co-sponsored by ADHA and
Procter & Gamble, the makers of Crest® toothpaste, honors
clinical dental hygienists who make distinctive differences in the
lives of their patients.
Each winner received a $2,000, as well as
a commemorative award. In addition, the winners received expense-free
trips to Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, and ADHA headquarters
in Chicago, as well as the association’s annual session in
Las Vegas where they were honored.
Bell is the executive director of the Champaign
County Child Dental Access Program, which provides dental care to
children from low-income families in Champaign County, Ill. Before
this program, dental care was often inaccessible to children on
Medicaid because of cost, geographical barriers and lack of local
dentists.
ADHA is the largest national organization
representing the professional interests of more than 120,000 dental
hygienists across the country. Dental hygienists are preventive
oral health professionals, licensed in dental hygiene, who provide
educational, clinical and therapeutic services that support total
health through the promotion of optimal oral health. For more information
