| 2004 Student Advisor Award
Presented to Frances McConaughy
Chicago-August 10, 2004 – The
American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) has named Frances
McConaughy, of Salt Lake City, Utah, as the winner of the 2004 ADHA
Student Advisor Award.
The award, sponsored by Waterpik Technologies,
honors student advisors who exhibit excellence in both the encouragement
of student involvement in the Student American Dental Hygienists’
Association and their involvement with ADHA.
McConaughy is a professor at Weber State
University in Salt Lake City, and has served in numerous positions
with ADHA including serving on the Council on Education and Research
and the Institute for Oral Health scholarship committee. She has
also served as a district trustee.
McConaughy received her bachelor of science
degree from Weber State University. She is currently enrolled in
a doctorate program at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City,
where she also earned her master’s degree.
McConaughy was honored during the opening
ceremonies at ADHA's 81st annual session in Dallas on June 23. She
received $1,000 and a commemorative award, as well as round-trip
transportation and lodging for two nights at the session.
ADHA is the largest national organization
representing the professional interests of the more than 120,000
dental hygienists across the country. Dental hygienists are preventive
oral health professionals, licensed in dental hygiene, who provide
educational, clinical and therapeutic services that support the
total health through the promotion of optimal oral health. For more
