ADHA Announces Recipient of 2009 Irene Newman Award

Chicago, July 6, 2009-The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Anne Guignon, RDH, MPH, of Houston, Texas as the recipient of the Irene Newman Award. She was honored during the Saturday Plenary Session and ADHA Award Presentations at ADHA’s 86th Annual Session in Washington, D.C., on June 20.

Sponsored by Colgate, this award recognizes a current ADHA member who has been involved with ADHA for at least 15 years and who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in advancing the art and science of dental hygiene. The recipient participated within her community or social service organization and was nominated by an active ADHA member.

Guignon has been a member of ADHA for over 20 years and is active in her local and state organizations. She has been responsible for recruiting, renewing and reinstating more than 650 members across the nation, and is known for her popular continuing education courses and magazine columns. Guignon has also raised thousands of dollars for state and national HYPAC, the Toothfairy Campaign and the Lister Relief Fund for victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
