ADHA Announces Recipient of J&J/ADHA Award
for Excellence in Dental Hygiene

The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Barbara Dawidjan, RDH, MEd, of Worcester, Mass., as the recipient of the Johnson & Johnson/ADHA Award for Excellence in Dental Hygiene. She was honored during the Johnson & Johnson Awards for Excellence/President’s Luncheon at ADHA’s 86th Annual Session in Washington, D.C., on June 21.

With this award, ADHA and Johnson & Johnson recognize individual dental hygienists who have made “outstanding accomplishments that have a significant impact on the practice and future of the dental hygiene profession.” The recipients have at least 10 years of membership in ADHA and its constituents, demonstrate an active involvement in the association, and were nominated by a colleague for their outstanding accomplishments.

Dawidjan graduated from Quinsigamond Community College in 1979 with her associate’s degree in dental hygiene. She also gained her Bachelor of Science and a master’s in education from Worchester State College. She has assumed a number of leadership roles including, most recently, the Immediate Past President of the Massachusetts Dental Hygienists’ Association, as well as a trustee for her component organization. Dawidjan has also been an active member of ADHA for over 25 years. She currently works as a dental hygiene professor at Quinsigamond Community College.
