ADHA Announces Recipient of J&J/ADHA Award for
Excellence in Dental Hygiene

The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Annette Byman, RDH, of Omaha, Neb., as the recipient of the Johnson & Johnson/ADHA Award for Excellence in Dental Hygiene. She was honored during the Johnson & Johnson Awards for Excellence/President’s Luncheon at ADHA’s 86th Annual Session in Washington, D.C., on June 21.

With this award, ADHA and Johnson & Johnson recognize individual dental hygienists who have made “outstanding accomplishments that have a significant impact on the practice and future of the dental hygiene profession.” The recipients have at least 10 years of membership in ADHA and its constituents, demonstrate an active involvement in the association, and were nominated by a colleague for their outstanding accomplishments.

Byman graduated from North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) in 1986, and shortly after moving to California, became a member of the California Dental Hygienists’ Association. She has served on various special committees in Iowa and Nebraska, in addition to being constituent president in Iowa and president of its Northwest and North Central components. Byman has also served on Iowa’s Tobacco Free Coalition and ADHA’s finance committee, and is a member of the Member Services Council. She is currently a periodontal therapist at a dental practice in Omaha.
