Legislative Information

Over the past year, in the states of Arizona, Illinois, Hawaii and others laws were passed to increase the scope of practice for dental hygienists, break down supervisory barriers and increase practice settings.

We've seen a increase in states which allow dental hygienists to be directly reimbursed through the Medicaid program with 10 states now having this via statutory or regulatory directive.

In addition, in 35 states dental hygienists can administer local anesthesia and in 21 states can administer nitrous oxide.
