North American Dental Hygiene Research Conference and Call for Abstracts
You are invited to attend the North American Dental Hygiene Research Conference being held June 15th – 17th, 2009 in Bethesda, Md. The conference brings together members of the dental hygiene community to increase knowledge and skills for examining present models of health care delivery; increase and diversify the number of people involved in oral health research; build a network of dental hygiene researchers; explore strategies to improve data acquisition and analysis and submit grant proposals to address national research priorities. Information and registration materials for the conference can be found at www.adha.org/research under research news. Early registration deadline is March 6, 2009.

Call for Abstracts
Abstracts are currently being accepted for presenting your research at the North American Dental Hygiene Research Conference Poster Session. Abstract guidelines and submission forms are available online at www.adha.org/research under research news. Submission deadline for the abstracts is February 1, 2009.

APHA Invites Submission of Abstracts
The APHA Oral Health section invites the submission of abstracts for the 2009 Annual Meeting to be held November 7-11 in Philadelphia, Pa. The theme of the meeting is “Water and Public Health: The 21st Century Challenges".

The APHA Annual Meeting & Exposition is the oldest and largest gathering of public health professionals in the world, attracting more than 13,000 national and international physicians, dentists, dental hygienists, administrators, nurses, educators, researchers, epidemiologists, and related health specialists. The APHA meeting program addresses current and emerging health science, policy, and practice issues in an effort to prevent disease and promote health.

We encourage abstracts in all areas of public oral health and are also interested in abstracts that focus on the Annual Meeting theme.  Some suggested areas of interest include:

* Community Water Fluoridation
* Effective Preventive Programs & Oral Health Promotion
* Innovative Delivery and Financing Mechanisms
* Epidemiology of Oral Diseases
* Oral Health Disparities
* Oral Health Literacy
* Oral Health Policy and Programs
* Special Needs Populations
* Workforce Issues
* Diabetes and Oral Health

The deadline for abstract submission to the Oral Health Section is February 8, 2009.

Authors must provide complete and accurate contact information to be notified of abstract status. Abstracts will be selected through a rated review process according to significance, timeliness, and overall quality. Presenters of accepted abstracts must become individual members of APHA and register for the Annual Meeting.
