Information and Timeline for Candidates Corner

  1. A biographical statement not to exceed 200 words.
  2. A platform statement not to exceed 400 words.
  3. Submit biographical statement and platform statement, and photograph (if desired) by March 28, 2008, 5:00 p.m.

Any statements or photos received after that date will not be included in Candidates’ Corner.

EDITORIAL POLICY

  1. No editing can or shall be done by any member of the headquarters staff.
  2. Platform statements are considered classified information and may not be reviewed, rejected, or approved by any member of the headquarters staff.
  3. Council on Policy & Bylaws Chair will review submissions by counting words contained within each statement. (If statements are over the limit the chair will contact the candidate for editing to be done by the candidate.)
  4. The council chair will send all submitted materials to headquarters staff for printing and distribution.
  5. Candidates will review the copy-ready platform statement and biographical data prior to publication and within seven (7) days of postmark of the copy; transmit to central office a sign-off sheet confirming that all content and format are as originally submitted.

Awards Corner!

2008 ADHA/Crest® Oral-B Esther Wilkins Future Leader Award
This award was created to recognize dental hygienists who exhibit a strong commitment to the dental hygiene profession and have demonstrated leadership in the American Dental Hygienists’ Association within five years of graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 3, 2008. Information and application form

New 2008 Hu-Friedy/ADHA Master Clinician Award
This new award is for the candidate with a minimum of ten (10) years of clinical experience. The Hu-Friedy/ADHA Master Clinician Award will present an outstanding professional with $5,000 and a commemorative award. Clinical dental hygienists must demonstrate outstanding clinical expertise in relating the interdependence of clinical practice and patient education for the improvement of patient compliance.

Crest/ADHA Award for Clinical Dental Hygienists
The American Dental Hygienists’ Association in conjunction with Crest is pleased to present the Crest/ADHA Award for Clinical Dental Hygienists. Colgate/ADHA Community Outreach Award
This component award program recognizes the volunteer efforts of ADHA components and individuals who have conducted significant community outreach programs that focus on preventive oral health care. To obtain more information and to download an application please visit www.adha.org.

ADHA and Procter & Gamble announce Dental Hygiene Educator of the Year Award
This award was established to recognize, honor and reward a full-time dental hygiene faculty member who contributes to and is dedicated to providing high quality education to dental hygiene students. 2008 Recognition Award for Dental Hygiene Programs
Celebrate your commitment to your professional association. Dental Hygiene Programs with 100% membership of its full- and part-time dental hygienist faculty are eligible for this award, including recognition at Annual Session and in Access magazine. ADHA Sigma Phi Alpha Award
To encourage dental hygiene research, ADHA, Sigma Phi Alpha and Johnson & Johnson will present an award to the outstanding manuscript submitted by a baccalaureate-, master- or doctoral-level degree completion candidate. The winning manuscript will be published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene (JDH). Runner-up articles will have abstracts also published in JDH and Access. In addition, the author of the winning manuscript will receive a $1,000 award. For more information check out the flyer!
