C.E. approval by state dental board pending.

Alabama
Two hours, state dental board does not approve courses in advance, but will accept proof of course completion.More than half of the 12 annual hours can be home study. It's the dental hygienists’ responsibility to submit proof

Arizona
Two hours. Does not approve courses in advance, but will accept proof of course completion. No more than 14 credit hours of 34 may be self-study.

Arkansas
Two hours. The hygienist is expected to retain proof of completion for six years. The board conducts random audits.

California
Two hours. Does not approve courses in advance, but will accept proof of completion. The board may randomly audit records. No more than half of 25 hours every two years may be home study.

Colorado
No continuing education requirements.

Connecticut
Does not accept self-study courses for continuing education requirements.

Delaware
Two hours.

Florida
C.E. approval by state dental board pending.

Georgia
Two hours. Certificate of completion must be maintained for four years.
